In the past 10 days, 18 Computer Professionals Program students started practical training jobs at companies throughout the US. While Microsoft remains the largest employer of Maharishi University Computer Science students, many are finding positions in smaller companies.
“We saw a definite upsurge in job offers for our students this month,” said Dr. Julie Stephens, Director of Placement. “Many small to mid-size companies are starting new projects as they determine how to remain competitive and grow. I think this is a good sign for the economy as a whole.”
Ms. Stephens attributes the fast rate of placement of our students to the preparation they receive from their studies at the University. “We give students very marketable skills in their classes, and then we help them carefully prepare their resumes and learn to be interviewed so they can connect with employers. It seems to be working!”
Srdan Atanaskovic, originally from Serbia, was hired this week by American Specialty Health in San Diego, CA. He will serve as a software engineer. “I am really happy to get this position,” said Srdan. “I am now able to have my wife and son join me and we will live in one of the nicest cities in America. M.U.M. and the unique Compro program opened a lot of opportunities for me. Thanks to this program I am able to make a smooth transition from way I lived and worked in my country, to the way it is in the US.”
